Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? If you don’t find your answer here, please contact us directly — Bruce loves helping new and experienced keepers alike.

I'm new to keeping chameleons. Do you recommend Panthers?

Yes, generally speaking Panther Chameleons are at the top of the list for beginner chameleon keepers. They are hardier than many other species and tolerate a slightly wider range of conditions. That said, they still require proper care — correct lighting, ventilation, temperature gradients, and hydration. We recommend doing thorough research and setting up the enclosure before acquiring your animal. And of course, we're always here to help!

Is it normal for my Panther to shed its skin every few weeks?

Yes, Panther Chameleons will grow at a rapid rate as they mature, and frequent sheds are completely normal in juveniles. As they reach adulthood, shedding frequency decreases. During a shed, you may notice your chameleon appears dull in color and eats less — this is normal. Ensure proper humidity during sheds and never assist the process manually unless absolutely necessary.

What age is best to buy a Panther Chameleon?

You will see Panthers sold at many different ages. We recommend waiting until animals are at least 3–4 months old. At this age they are eating well, past the most fragile stage, and starting to show color in males. Very young hatchlings can be challenging for new keepers. Older animals (6+ months) are a great choice if you want to see exactly what colors you're getting.

What should I expect when you ship my Panther Chameleon?

We make buying easy at Chameleon Paradise. We ship via FedEx Priority Overnight so your animal arrives the next morning. We package chameleons carefully with appropriate heat or cool packs depending on the season and destination weather. We provide a live arrival guarantee. Please have the enclosure set up and ready before the animal arrives, and be home to receive the package.

Where do you recommend buying food for my Panther Chameleon?

Panther Chameleons eat a wide variety of insect prey including crickets, dubia roaches, hornworms, silkworms, and more. We recommend ordering from reputable online feeder insect suppliers for the best quality and variety. Locally, pet stores often carry crickets and mealworms. Variety is key — don't rely on just one feeder insect type. Gut-loading your feeders is just as important as what you feed.

Do you offer any guarantee with your animals?

Yes, we offer a live arrival guarantee on all shipped animals. If there is a problem upon arrival, contact us immediately with photos/video and we will work with you to make it right. The health of our animals is paramount, and we want every customer to have a positive experience.

Can I visit in person to pick up my chameleon?

Contact us to discuss this option. We are happy to arrange local pickup when possible, which saves on shipping costs and lets you see the animal in person before purchasing.

How much does a Panther Chameleon cost?

Our Ambilobe offspring are typically priced at $295–$395 depending on gender and genetics. Special locales like Nosy Faly (Patriot line) may be priced differently. Contact us directly for current pricing and availability. We also accept deposits to hold animals.
